BEST PLAYERS IN THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (APR 2024)

In our analysis, we evaluate all the players who played in UEFA Champions League until the 30 of April (2023/2024 Season). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers with more than 450 minutes played in the competition. Assessing all the positions, coupled with the evaluation of a lot of factors and indicators in their games, we can generate the ratings for the players performances in the specific positions. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

GOALKEEPERS (GKs):

  1. Yann Sommer (Inter)
  2. Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich)
  3. Gregor Kobel (Dortmund)
  4. Álex Remiro (Real Sociedad)
  5. David Raya (Arsenal)

With incredible performances, Yann Sommer is the Best Performing Goalkeeper until the end of April. While playing for Inter, Sommer is having an incredible season as the clear first choice after Onana. As I have shown above, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer is in second place on the average rating list ahead of Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, Real Sociedad’s Álex Remiro and Arsenal’s David Raya.

Equally, we can see that he is being followed by Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, Bayern Munich’s duo Kim Min-jae & Dayot Upamecano and Inter’s Benjamin Pavard.

As shown above, in a spot filled with a top team player, we can see that Manchester City’s Joško Gvardiol archived the highest average ratings among Full-Backs and Wing-Backs until the end of April. Being, without doubt, quality Full-Backs, João Cancelo, Achraf Hakimi and Samuel Lino are three of the best performing players in this positions. To conclude, we can also see that Napoli’s Giovanni Di Lorenzo was having great performances.

As can be seen in the graph above, Vinicius Júnior, considered by many one of the best players in the world, has the highest average rating among all Centre-Fowards. As a result of his performances, Vinicius Júnior is significantly ahead of his competition. To conclude the Top 5, we can see that the list also features top players like Atlético Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, his teammate Rodrygo, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

In our analysis, we evaluate the players who played in Ligue 1 until the 22th of March – included (2023/2024 Season). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers within a team with a minimum of 1350 minutes played. Assessing all the positions, we evaluate a lot of factors and indicators in their games that allow us to generate the ratings for their performances. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

In the table below we will present the results in regards to the players and teams. It is important to realise that there is likely to be a correlation between individual success and team success. Therefore, we can expect to find players from PSG with a higher average rating.

TOP PERFORMER PER TEAM: LIGUE 1 2023/2024:

Regardless of his team’s position in the table, Todibo is the best player in the Nice squad. In addition, we can see that this is the highest average rating in the league. Simultaneously, with a rating close to the one from Todibo, we can spot PSG’s Kylian Mbappé and Brest’s Pierre Lees-Melou. The biggest surprise on this list really is Pierre Lees-Melou. Although Brest are the surprise team in Ligue 1, Pierre Lees-Melou’s quality and performances are really great. Finally, Moses Simon is Nantes’s player with the highest average rating, even though his rating is a 6.85 (a situation that emphasises the competitive season in France).

In the case of the Worst Performers, we spot Lucas Hernández from Paris Saint-Germain in the bottom of the list.
