In this section we present the European leagues we cover. Therefore, we have decided to rate and evaluate the Top 7 leagues in Europe: Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany), Ligue 1 (France), Primeira Liga (Portugal) and Eredivisie (Netherlands).

In this section we present the European leagues we cover. Therefore, we have decided to rate and evaluate the Top 7 leagues in Europe: Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany), Ligue 1 (France), Primeira Liga (Portugal) and Eredivisie (Netherlands).

BEST PLAYERS IN PRIMEIRA LIGA – PORTUGAL (JAN 2024)

In our analysis, we evaluate all the players who played in Primeira Liga until January (2023/2024 Season). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers with a minimum of 700 minutes played in the league. Assessing all the positions, we evaluate a lot of factors and indicators in their games that allow us to generate the ratings for their performances. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

GOALKEEPERS (GKs):

  1. Anatolli Trubin (Benfica)
  2. Luíz Júnior (Famalicão)
  3. Kewin (Moreirense)

With incredible performances, Trubin is the best performing goalkeeper until January. Playing for the current champions Benfica, Trubin is the upgrade that Benfica needed in goal.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. António Silva (Benfica)
  2. Gonçalo Inácio (Sporting CP)
  3. Nicolás Otamendi (Benfica)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is stacked with quality players. As a matter of fact, António Silva leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Primeira Liga until January in the 2023-2024 Season. Equally, we can see that he is being followed closely by Gonçalo Inácio, another young player that is expected to move on to even greater clubs and leagues.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. Fredrik Aursnes (Benfica)
  2. Rodrigo Gomes (Estoril)
  3. Costinha (Rio Ave)

As shown above, in a top 3 with two young talents, Fredrik Aursnes archived the highest average ratings among the Full-Back and Wing-Back position in January. Being, without doubt, one of the most exciting players in the Portuguese League, Rodrigo Gomes is having his breakthrough season with Estoril “earning him rumours” of being the next signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

MIDFIELDERS (Ms) and WINGERS (Ws):

  1. Rafa Silva (Benfica)
  2. Ángel Di María (Benfica)
  3. Orkun Kökçü (Benfica)

As a result of his great impact in Benfica´s style of play, Rafa Silva has one of the highest average ratings in the league.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP)
  2. Simon Banza (Braga)
  3. André Silva (Vitória Guimarães)

Considered by many to be the best player in the league, Viktor Gyökeres has the highest average rating among strikers in Primeira Liga until January 2024. As a result of his performances, Viktor is significantly ahead of his competition.

BEST PLAYERS IN LA LIGA – SPAIN (DEC 2023)

In our analysis, we evaluate all the players who played in La Liga until December (December games not included). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers with a minimum of 500 minutes played in the league. Assessing all the positions, we evaluate a lot of factors and indicators in their games that allow us to generate the ratings for their performances. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

GOALKEEPERS (GKs):

  1. Álvaro Vallés (Las Palmas)
  2. Marc-André ter Stegen (Barcelona)
  3. Unai Simón (Athletic Club)

With incredible performances, Álvaro Vallés is the best performing goalkeeper until December. Playing for a promoted team, it wasn’t expected that Vallés would archive this type of ratings since La Liga has great players in this position like ter Stegen and Unai Simón.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. Daley Blind (Girona)
  2. César Azpilicueta (Atlético Madrid)
  3. Mario Hermoso (Atlético Madrid)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is stacked with experienced players. As a matter of fact, Daley Blind leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the La Liga until December. Equally, we can see that he is being followed closely by Azpilicueta and M. Hermoso, both players from Atlético Madrid.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. João Cancelo (Barcelona)
  2. Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid)
  3. Thierry Correia (Valencia)

As shown above, in a top 3 with quality players, João Cancelo archived the highest average ratings among the Full-Back and Wing-Back position. Being one of the most exciting Barcelona players, we can expect solid play of Cancelo in the Full-Back positon as well as all the other positions in the field since he is incredibly versatile.

MIDFIELDERS (Ms) and WINGERS (Ws):

  1. Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)
  2. Aleix García (Girona)
  3. Isco (Real Betis)

With a great start of the season, Jude Bellingham has one of the highest average ratings in the league. In addition, we must emphasise the performances of Aleix García and Isco in such competitive positions since they are key contributors to the quallity football played by Girona and Real Betis, respectively.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Gerard Moreno (Villarreal)
  2. Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid)
  3. Iago Aspas (Celta Vigo)

Considered by many to be the best player in the league, Griezmann has the second highest average rating among strikers in La Liga until December. As a result of his performances, Gerard Moreno is a bit ahead of his competition. At last, but not least, we need to give credit to Iago Aspas and his huge contribution to Celta Vigo.
