BEST PLAYERS IN LIGUE 1 – FRANCE (JAN 2024)

In our analysis, we evaluate all the players who played in the Ligue 1 until January (2023/2024 Season). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers with a minimum of 700 minutes played in the league. Assessing all the positions, we evaluate a lot of factors and indicators in their games that allow us to generate the ratings for their performances. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

GOALKEEPERS (GKs):

  1. Marcin Bułka (Brest)
  2. Marco Bizot (Nice)
  3. Brice Samba (Lens)

With good performances, Marcin Bułka is the best performing goalkeeper in the Ligue 1 until January. Playing for the current second place in the league, Marcin Bułka is one of the main reasons for Nice being the best defense in the league.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. Jean-Clair Todibo (Nice)
  2. Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain)
  3. Dante (Nice)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is led by one of the biggest talents in the world right now. As a matter of fact, Jean-Clair Todibo leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Ligue 1 until January in the 2023-2024 Season. Equally, we can see that he is being followed closely by Marquinhos and his teammate Dante, two quality players.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain)
  2. Melvin Bard (Nice)
  3. Lucas Hernández (Paris Saint-Germain)

As shown above, in a Top 3 lead by an incredible margin, Hakimi archived the highest average ratings among the Full-Back and Wing-Back position until January. Being, without doubt, one of the most exciting players in the French League, Hakimi is having another great season.

MIDFIELDERS (Ms) and WINGERS (Ws):

  1. Ousmane Dembélé (Paris Saint-Germain)
  2. Youssouf Fofana (Monaco)
  3. Téji Savanier (Montpellier)

As a result of their attacking style of play, Ousmane Dembélé the highest average ratings in the league among midfielders and wingers. Despite not being among the best teams in the league, Savanier continues to shine in the French League.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Wissam Ben Yedder (Monaco)
  2. Terem Moffi (Nice)
  3. Jonathan David (Lille)

In a Top 3 without Mbappé (who did not fulfil the minute requirements in the positions), Ben Yedder leads the average rating among strikers in Ligue 1 until January 2024. We must also emphasise Nice’s great season and the performances of their striker Moffi.

  1. Yann Sommer (Internazionale)
  2. Pietro Terracciano (Fiorentina)
  3. Wojciech Szczęsny (Juventus)

With good performances, Sommer is the best performing goalkeeper in the Serie A until January. Playing for the current leader in the league, Sommer is Onana’s successor after his transfer to Manchester United.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. Danilo (Juventus)
  2. Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan)
  3. Lucas Martínez Quarta (Fiorentina)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is stacked with quality players. As a matter of fact, Danilo leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Serie A until January in the 2023-2024 Season. Equally, we can see that he is being followed closely by Tomori and Martínez Quarta, two quality players with room to improve even more.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli)
  2. Patrick Ciurria (Monza)
  3. Theo Hernández (AC Milan)

As shown above, in a top 3 with low ratings, Di Lorenzo archived the highest average ratings among the Full-Back and Wing-Back position until January. Being, without doubt, one of the most exciting players in the Italian League, Di Lorenzo is having another great season.

MIDFIELDERS (Ms) and WINGERS (Ws):

  1. Hakan Çalhanoğlu (Internazionale)
  2. Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta)
  3. Luis Alberto (Lazio)

As a result of his great impact in Inter´s style of play, Hakan Çalhanoğlu has one of the highest average ratings in the league. In a top 3 stacked with quality midfielders (since the wingers are not having great seasons), all this players are some of the most impactful players in their respective teams.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Lautaro Martínez (Internazionale)
  2. Marcus Thuram (Internazionale)
  3. Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna)

Considered by many to be this seasons best duo, Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram have the highest average rating among strikers in the Serie A until January 2024. As a result of their great performances, this duo is clearly ahead of their competition. We must also emphasise Bologna’s great season and the performances of their striker Joshua Zirkzee.
