BEST PLAYERS IN SERIE A – ITALY (FEB 2024)

In our analysis, we evaluate all the players who played in the Serie A until February (2023/2024 Season). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers with a minimum of 900 minutes played in the league. Assessing all the positions, we evaluate a lot of factors and indicators in their games that allow us to generate the ratings for their performances. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

GOALKEEPERS (GKs):

  1. Yann Sommer (Internazionale)
  2. Vanja Milinković-Savić (Torino)
  3. Wojciech Szczęsny (Juventus)

With good performances, Sommer is the best performing goalkeeper in the Serie A until February. Playing for the current leader in the league, Sommer is playing quality football being Onana’s successor after his transfer to Manchester United.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. Danilo (Juventus)
  2. Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan)
  3. Lucas Martínez Quarta (Fiorentina)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is stacked with quality players. As a matter of fact, Danilo leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Serie A until February in the 2023-2024 Season. Equally, we can see that he is being followed closely by Tomori and Martínez Quarta, two quality players with room to improve even more.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli)

  2. Matìas Soulé (Frosinone)
  3. Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Internazionale)

As a result of his great impact in Inter´s style of play, Hakan Çalhanoğlu has one of the highest average ratings in the league. In a Top 3 stacked with quality players, we need to speak about Matìas Soulé, the best young talent in the league even if there are more young players with immense quality.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Lautaro Martínez (Internazionale)
  2. Albert Guðmundsson (Genoa)
  3. Marcus Thuram (Internazionale)

Considered by many to be this seasons best duo, Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram have two of the highest average ratings among strikers in the Serie A until February 2024. As a result of their great performances, this duo is clearly ahead of their competition. We must also emphasise Genoa’s Albert Guðmundsson, the player from Iceland that his having a great season helping Genoa in the fight from the relegation zone.

  2. Alisson (Liverpool)
  3. Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)

With another great season, Nick Pope is the best performing goalkeeper in the Premier League until February. As shown above (and playing for the current first place in the league), Alisson is second on the list and one of the main reasons for Liverpool being one of the best defenses in the league.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  2. Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  3. Cristian Romero (Tottenham Hotspur)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is led by one of the biggest surprises in the English Premier League: the Brighton duo. As a matter of fact, Lewis Dunk leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Premier League until February being followed closely by his teammate Jan Paul van Hecke and Cristian Romero.

  2. James Maddison (Tottenham Hotspur)
  3. Pascal Groß (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Considered, by our website, the best player of the last season, Rodri has the highest average ratings in the league among Midfielders and Wingers. Despite not being the flashiest player, Rodri has an incredible impact in the Manchester City squad and their fixtures.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Abdoulaye Doucouré (Everton)
  2. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
  3. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

In this top 3, the main surprise is Doucouré: contrarily to the season preview, Doucouré is Everton’s key player for this years style of play since he plays closely/in the striker position. Either way, Haaland is close to the average rating of Doucoré in this Premier League analysis – until February 2024.
