In this section we present the European leagues we cover. Therefore, we have decided to rate and evaluate the Top 7 leagues in Europe: Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany), Ligue 1 (France), Primeira Liga (Portugal) and Eredivisie (Netherlands).

In this section we present the European leagues we cover. Therefore, we have decided to rate and evaluate the Top 7 leagues in Europe: Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany), Ligue 1 (France), Primeira Liga (Portugal) and Eredivisie (Netherlands).

BEST PLAYERS IN PREMIER LEAGUE – ENGLAND (MAR 2024)

In our analysis, we evaluate all the players who played in the Premier League until March (2023/2024 Season). In other words, we evaluate and filter the best performers with a minimum of 1100 minutes played in the league. Assessing all the positions, we evaluate a lot of factors and indicators in their games that allow us to generate the ratings for their performances. As a matter of fact, in this type of analysis, the type of formation played doesnt influence or limit the ratings system.

GOALKEEPERS (GKs):

  1. Nick Pope (Newcastle United)
  2. Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)
  3. Alisson (Liverpool)

With another great season, Nick Pope is the best performing goalkeeper in the Premier League until March. As the Goalkeeper of this season’s breakthrough team, Emiliano Martínez earned the second spot in this list ahead of Alisson, one of the main reasons for Liverpool being one of the best defenses in the league.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  2. Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  3. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Regardless of the place on the standings, the Brighton duo leads the list of the best Centre-Backs in the English Premier League. As a matter of fact, Lewis Dunk leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Premier League until March being followed closely by his teammate Jan Paul van Hecke and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United)
  2. Pedro Porro (Tottenham Hotspur)
  3. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

As shown above, in a Top 3 lead by a good margin, Trippier archived the highest average ratings among the Full-Back and Wing-Back position until March. Being, without doubt, one of the most exciting players in the English League, Trippier is having another great season leading a list with strong presence such as Pedro Porro and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

MIDFIELDERS (Ms) and WINGERS (Ws):

  1. Rodri (Manchester City)
  2. Pascal Groß (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  3. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

Considered, by our website, the best player of the last season, Rodri has the highest average ratings in the league among Midfielders and Wingers. Despite not being the flashiest player, Rodri has an incredible impact in the Manchester City squad and their fixtures.

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
  2. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
  3. Abdoulaye Doucouré (Everton)

In this top 3, the main surprise is Doucouré: contrarily to the season preview, Doucouré is Everton’s key player for this years style of play since he plays closely & in the striker position. Nevertheless, Haaland leads the average rating list among strikers in this Premier League.

BEST PLAYERS IN PRIMEIRA LIGA – PORTUGAL (MAR 2024)

  1. Anatolli Trubin (Benfica)
  2. Bruno Varela (Vitória Guimarães)
  3. Kewin (Moreirense)

With incredible performances, Trubin is the best performing goalkeeper until March. Playing for the current champions, Trubin is the upgrade that Benfica needed in goal so that this position presents great quality and stability like Porto’s GK: Diogo Costa. As can be seen, and in a surprising manner, Diogo Costa isn’t present in this Top 3 list.

CENTRE-BACKS (CBs):

  1. António Silva (Benfica)
  2. Nicolás Otamendi (Benfica)
  3. Gonçalo Inácio (Sporting CP)

In terms of the Centre-Backs, the Top 3 is stacked with quality players: as a matter of fact, António Silva leads the average rating of Centre-Backs in the Primeira Liga until March in the 2023-2024 Season. Equally, we can see that he is being followed closely by current World Champion for Argentina (Nicolás Otamendi) and Gonçalo Inácio.

FULL-BACKS (FBs) and WING-BACKS (WBs):

  1. Fredrik Aursnes (Benfica) 8.18
  2. Costinha (Rio Ave) 7.20
  3. Wendell (Porto) 7.11

As shown above, in a Top 3 with one great young talent, Fredrik Aursnes archived the highest average ratings among the Full-Back and Wing-Back position until March. Being, without doubt, one of the most exciting players in the Portuguese League, Costinha is one of the best young talents in this league. After his surprise inclusion in the Brazil squad, we can see that Wendell fulfils this Top 3 list.

MIDFIELDERS (Ms) and WINGERS (Ws):

  1. Rafa Silva (Benfica)
  2. Ángel Di María (Benfica)
  3. Pedro Gonçalves (Sporting CP)

As a result of his great impact in Benfica´s style of play, Rafa Silva has one of the highest average ratings in the league being followed closely by his teammate Ángel Di María and Sporting’s Pedro Gonçalves, two players having great seasons (with incredible ratings).

CENTRE-FOWARDS (CFs):

  1. Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP)
  2. Simon Banza (Braga)
  3. Evanilson (Porto)

Considered by many to be the best player in the league, Viktor Gyökeres has the highest average rating among all players in Primeira Liga (until March 2024). As a result of his performances, Viktor is significantly ahead of his competition.
